I don't want it to come off as me ranking Christians by any means as we all are seen the same in God's eyes. More so what I was referring to is guarding our hearts from people who have no desire to pursue Christ yet want to give input/advice into the lives of those who are trying to pursue Christ especially in areas where they may be struggling. I left a comment about possibly featuring your testimony about God protecting you from going blind on my website. I look forward to hearing from you :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10335622421977665303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1755758239048195776.post-72166178843731386052013-08-06T05:25:45.769-07:002013-08-06T05:25:45.769-07:00Hi Angel,

I howled at your phrase "Little miss mess in a dress" mostly bc that so describes me some days.

I wanted to share a truth since this is a forum of ideas. As a leader in singles ministry for 3 years, I often talked with people, who like you, said "I want friends that can get a prayer through."
I'm going to share my opinion that God hears all that we say, sinning or not, because He is willing to meet any one of us right where we are.

As I counseled with group members, they have told me stories or I have seen their transformative and convicting moments where they were praying for a friend [for the first time after all the times they said they'd pray for them]and realized they were guilty of the same sin but in a different area of their life. OR If they were mad at a friend and prayed they'd realize how [deficient] they were, God showed them that same sin was true in their life in a different area. OR God brought them to tears and they realized praying for ALL their friends was sometimes the only way they could be a friend....

OR for the people who have any people in their life saying "I'll pray for you," [when you are convinced they won't] one of my friends started to say, "That would be great. Do you have time to say a quick prayer with me now." It totally convicted her Quicky-answer Christian friend and she said she was so grateful that her friend made the simple request. The quicky-Christian friend realized only then that she was in fact a "Quicky Christian" [her words, not mine] and it started her on the road to deeper growth of being a woman who "Said what she meant, and DID what she said." She felt terrible about how slap-dash she had been.

I told this one woman in particular, "Well, now that you have realized it, you'll do life differently. Say your sorry to your friend and God for being a "Quicky Christian" and tell your friend thank you for speaking truth gently into my life. If you had not been a Quickie Christian for so long, do you think you would have such a deep regret and felt such deep necessity to change?"

She said, "probably not."

"Well," I said, "I found it true in my own life that God can use any one of my less desirable behaviors to teach me the simultaneous lesson of what I need to do differently after ALL this time....AND then remind me conversely how much He loves me even when I don't deserve it either." It's humbling but wonderful when we see how deep GRACE allows us to be "messes in dresses" and Quickie Christians until God's built such a deep lesson for us that it truly becomes a testimony because we did it our way for so long.

I would challenge all women to try and help those around them toward growth by asking for what you need and checking out with friends if they really are doing what they say. Try and give each woman the challenge and chance to be a better friend before putting them into the ministry category v. the friend category.

All the best, GS

GShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05662325383336447812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1755758239048195776.post-22210718215763042022013-07-15T07:16:41.272-07:002013-07-15T07:16:41.272-07:00Its true, sometimes we allow what should not be al...Its true, sometimes we allow what should not be allowed into our hearts.
thanks for sharing.

I too share and blog in www.splashesofgrace.blogspot.com

Grace Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03791079981564097664noreply@blogger.com
