Day 37: Jeremiah 36:1-32
Instead, the king commanded Jerahmeel, a son
of the king, Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the LORD had hidden them (Jeremiah 36:26, NIV).
Regardless of whether or
not a person chooses to accept or reject the word of God that does not change
it. People can even go to the same extent of Jehoaikim and destroy the word in
the physical sense but that even will never make the word of God go away or
make it void. There are so many people that believe that simply because they
choose to reject the word of God that it means that it is not valid or that
what it says will not come to pass. It is important for us to understand that
God’s word is never going to change to fit what we want it to say or to make us
comfortable in sin. God is not required to conform to our way of life but
instead He gives us the strength and power that we need to be transformed by
His way of life. Nonetheless, people still choose to reject His truth; as
Jehoakim is burning the scroll from Baruch, he tells the officials to go and
throw both Baruch and Jeremiah into prison but it says the Lord had hidden them
(v. 26). Be encouraged in sharing the gospel and don’t be afraid to speak the
unpopular things as God leads you to. God will protect those that are doing His
work even as trouble arises. Throughout these chapters we have really been able
to see God’s promise to Jeremiah come to past that he gave him in chapter 1: “they
will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will
rescue you” declares the Lord (Jeremiah 1:19, NIV). We have definitely seen how
people have fought against Jeremiah but God has remained with him the entire
way through. Know that when people reject your and fight against you as you
share the word of God that it is really God Himself that they are rejecting and
fighting. Also know that He is with you and will give you the strength to
continue along the way.
**God laid it on my heart to get back to prayer. I'm starting
back the 60 days of prayer group starting on tomorrow. Find someone that you
can connect with and pray with at least once/week while also setting aside time
daily to pray individually. You can set up your own conference calls, skype,
google hangouts, etc. if you don't have someone to be your prayer partner let
me know! We will continue to have the weekly prayer calls on Mondays as well!
Join the GroupMe chat for additional accountability and also to share your
prayer requests so that we can stand in agreement with you.
