It's getting hot! A PSA To Women

And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes (1 Timothy 1:9, NLT).

Cheers to finally getting some warm weather and finally getting through the snowmageddon that was winter! Or so we would hope…Nonetheless, spring has officially sprung and summer is right around the corner. As we all know, when warm weather comes the layers of clothing goes. So ladies, let’s have a heart to heart right quick. I get it, you have been working out hard all fall and winter to get your summer beach body ody in shape and you don’t want to hide it! You’re proud of your weight lost, your stomach is the bomb and you finally got that cut, your squats and Brazilian butt lift is finally starting to pay off, and your legs look like you should be strutting and getting it on someone’s catwalk. Ladies I get it trust me I do! You love your body and you want to show it off. Let me ask you a question though; what exactly are you selling and who are you trying to get to buy it? Before you go wait…Angel did you just call me a prostitute??? Just hear me out. A lot of women say the way they dress or the pictures they post of their body are not to get attention from men. Some say they do it because they’re comfortable in their skin and they love their bodies. I am not knocking loving yourself and appreciating the body that God has given you none whatsoever BUT here’s the thing ladies, whether you’re trying to get attention or so called not trying to get it you will, but is that the kind of attention that you really want?

We have to understand that men are very visual creatures. Showing off your body is going to provoke a spirit of lust and there’s no way of getting around that. You’re going to be more likely to be approached by men who want to prey on you versus pray over you. You can’t be mad when a bunch of random men are commenting on your body and you wonder why you keep ending up with guys that only want to sleep with you. I have to be honest with you ladies, no matter what your reason is for showing off your assets it creates an image of lust. The thing about spirits is that they recognize similar spirits so when you’re attracting a bunch of lustful men you have to ask yourself what are you putting out there.  Understand this, there are going to be two types of men that you come across in this life and that is the man who is a believer and the man who is an unbeliever. Notice I did not say the man that’s sorta kinda saved; you’re either for Christ or against Him, no grey, but I digress. I think it’s safe for me to speak for my brothers in Christ and say that they don’t want their future wife (or current wife) goodies to be broadcasted to everybody and their momma whether it’s through social media or in person. That is reserved for them, not the world. So ladies let’s be clear, a man who is souled out for God is not interested in pursuing any Delilah’s or Jezebel’s no matter how good you might look. Even more so God will protect His son’s from women that He knows will draw them away from Him. To men of God, a woman that is showing a bunch of skin and has cleavage showing that could poke an eye out is a red flag to them. To be honest, they’re like the female version of a random and good Christian men are not trying to play around with a lust demon at all because that is a distraction like no other. Something that God had to show me at one point was that I wanted a good Christian man but I wasn’t a good Christian woman. You attract what you are; the question is what are you putting out?

I remember 3-4 years ago I got super convicted about taking pictures of myself in my bathing suit at the beach and posting it all over social media. Everybody else was doing it and I’m not going to lie I was pretty impressed with my body and I wanted to show it off! God showed me Angel when are you going to realize that you can’t do what “everybody else” is doing? When you have been set apart you just can’t do what everyone else does. You begin to realize that your body isn’t just reserved for your natural husband but also your spiritual Husband which is Jesus Christ so even if you’re not married yet your body still does not belong to you. You begin to ask yourself the question why do I want to attract the attention of a bunch of men when God created me for one in particular? In all that we do there should be purpose and that purpose should be to honor God. So how are you honoring God with your body?

Ladies, I know you want to be cute and not dress like a nun and you don’t have to.  Believe it or not you can be cute, attractive, and sexy even, and be dressed modestly! You don’t have to let it all hang out! You also however don’t have to wear skirts to your ankles, your calves, or even your knees and nobody is asking you to walk around with a snuggie on and flats and kitten heels for the rest of your life! The Holy Spirit will give you the yay and the nay on what to wear. There have been a number of times that I have put on outfits and God pretty much said try again, absolutely not! My rule of thumb is if I would not wear it to church or in front of people I go to church with I probably should not wear it. I personally cannot do the peak-a-boo mesh and holes stuff that’s popular or the midriff and really short or tight stuff. God had to check to me because I would justify that because I’m little I can get away with wearing a lot of stuff …but that doesn’t mean that I should wear it just because I can. Ladies, as the weather gets warmer be mindful of the image that you are portraying with your body. Don’t be making men fall with your short skirts and daisy dukes mhmkay. Draw the attention of people with the beauty that comes from Christ…not your booty. Stay classy, keep it holy.
